Never Give Up On Your Dreams!
There’s a quote that has stayed with me for years: “One day people will look at you and say: be careful with her, she overcame everything that was meant to destroy her.” When I first read those words, they felt like a promise for some distant future. But somewhere along the way, that “one day” became now. And if I could tell you everything I’ve had to overcome to get to where I am at this moment, you would understand why I believe so deeply that you should never give up on your dreams!
I won’t share every detail of what that journey looked like. Some stories are too heavy to put into words, and some lessons are too personal to give away. But I can tell you this: there were moments when giving up seemed like the only reasonable option. There were seasons when everything I had worked for felt like it was falling apart. There were people who told me I wasn’t good enough, situations that felt impossible, and obstacles that seemed designed specifically to break me.
And yet, here I am. Writing to you from the other side of all of that. 🙂
Key Takeaways
- Every obstacle is a building block. The challenges you face aren’t random punishments. They’re shaping you into the person who can handle what’s coming next. Nothing in your story is wasted.
- Life often has bigger plans than you can imagine. Stay open to possibilities beyond your current vision. The path reveals itself one step at a time, and sometimes the destination is better than anything you could have planned.
- External validation is unreliable. Internal worth is everything. Not everyone will like you, support you, or understand your dreams. Learn to find strength and worthiness inside your own heart, independent of others’ opinions.
- Rest is not the same as giving up. Taking time to recharge is part of the journey, not a detour from it. Sustainable success requires knowing when to push and when to recover.
- Joy is the fuel that keeps you moving. Find genuine enjoyment in your work, even during difficult seasons. That joy will carry you forward when discipline and motivation fall short.
Every Piece of Your Story Matters
When you’re in the middle of struggle, it’s hard to see how any of it could possibly serve a purpose. The pain feels pointless. The setbacks feel like proof that you’re on the wrong path. The closed doors feel like rejection from the universe itself.
But looking back now, I can see something I couldn’t see then: every single piece of my story was a necessary building block for who and where I am today. The challenges taught me resilience. The failures taught me humility. The critics taught me to find validation from within rather than chasing approval from others.
None of it was wasted. Not the tears, not the sleepless nights, not the moments when I questioned everything about myself and my path. All of it shaped me into a coach who can sit with athletes during their hardest moments because I understand what those moments feel like from the inside.
When I encourage you to never give up on your dreams, I’m not speaking from theory. I’m speaking from lived experience of what happens when you keep going anyway.
Life Will Surprise You
Here’s something I wish someone had told me earlier in my journey: sometimes when you think you know what your next step is, life has something entirely different in store for you! And that something might be way bigger and better than anything you could have imagined for yourself.
I couldn’t have predicted the path my career would take. Working with national teams across three continents. Coaching at the World Championship, at the Asian Games, the Asian Championship, at the Olympics!!! Lecturing as an EHF Expert. Building a coaching practice that reaches athletes and coaches in countries I never expected to visit.
None of this was in my original plan. I had dreams, yes, but they were smaller than what actually unfolded. Life kept saying: “You’re thinking too small. Let me show you what’s actually possible.”
This is why trust matters so much. Not blind optimism that ignores reality, but deep trust that the work you’re doing today is planting seeds for a harvest you can’t yet see. Stay open. Stay curious. Keep moving forward even when you can’t see the full picture. The path reveals itself one step at a time.
Why You Should Never Give Up On Your Dreams
I want to talk directly to whoever is reading this in a difficult season. Maybe you’re a young goalkeeper who feels overlooked. Maybe you’re a coach who wonders if you’re making any difference at all. Maybe you’re facing obstacles that seem impossible to overcome.
I see you. And I want you to know: whatever it is that you want in your life, if it’s in your thoughts, it’s there because you have the potential to accomplish it. Dreams don’t appear in our minds by accident. Our dreams are invitations for us to become something more than we currently are.
The gap between where you are and where you want to be can feel overwhelming. But that gap isn’t a sign that you should give up. It’s a sign that growth is required. And growth, while uncomfortable, is what this whole journey is about!
Don’t let the occasional expected challenges along the way stop you from where you are going. Notice that word: expected. Challenges are part of the path, not detours from it. Every person who ever achieved something meaningful faced moments of doubt, setbacks, and criticism. The difference is that they kept going anyway.
Not Everyone Will Support You (And That’s Okay)
This part of the conversation isn’t easy, but it’s important. So what if some people don’t like you? So what if some of them say things about you that aren’t true? So what if some of them say your work isn’t good?
Not everyone is supposed to like you. Not everyone is supposed to support you. And honestly? That’s perfectly fine.
I’ve learned that trying to please everyone is the fastest way to lose yourself. When you stand for something real, when you pursue dreams that matter to you, some people will be threatened by that. Some will project their own fears onto you. Some will criticize because they can’t imagine doing what you’re doing, and your ambition makes them uncomfortable.
Never give up on your dreams because of other people’s opinions! Their words reveal more about them than they do about you. The people who matter will recognize your value. The ones who don’t matter will eventually fade into background noise.
Learn how to find that sense of worthiness and strength inside your own heart. That’s where real confidence lives, not in external validation or applause, but in the quiet knowing that you are doing work that matters, regardless of who notices.
You Are Worthy. You Are Enough.
If you need that reminder today, here it is: Yes, you are worthy. And yes, you are good enough. ❤️
I know how it feels to question your own worth. To wonder if you have what it takes. To look at others who seem more talented, more connected, more successful and feel like you’ll never measure up.
But comparison is a trap that steals the energy you need for your own journey. Your path is only yours. It won’t look like anyone else’s, and that’s exactly as it should be.
The coaches I admire most are not the ones with the most impressive credentials or the biggest platforms. They’re the ones who show up day after day, giving their best in each moment, learning from every experience, staying dedicated to their athletes’ growth. That kind of consistency matters more than any single achievement.
You have permission to believe in yourself, even when circumstances don’t yet reflect what you’re working toward. The external results will catch up eventually. Your job right now is to keep building, keep learning, keep becoming.
How to Keep Going When You’re Tired
Never give up on your dreams, but also know this: it’s okay to rest. Taking a break isn’t the same as giving up. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is step back, recharge, and return with renewed energy.
I’ve pushed myself to exhaustion more times than I’d like to admit. The “go, go, go” energy that drives high achievers can become destructive if we don’t balance it with recovery. Learning when to rest and when to push is an art that takes years to develop.
Here’s what I’ve found helps me keep going during the most challenging seasons:
Be kind to yourself and others. Kindness creates connections that sustain you when motivation runs low. Keep good intentions at the center of everything you do. Work smart, not just hard. Effort matters, but direction matters more. Keep learning, always. The day you stop learning is the day you stop growing. Listen more than you speak. Be ready to receive feedback, even when it’s uncomfortable to hear. Help and inspire others whenever you can. What you give often returns to you in unexpected ways.
And most importantly: find joy in whatever you decide to do. Because that joy is what will inspire you to keep going, to keep moving forward, even when your feet get very, very tired.
The Promise I Want to Leave You With
Wherever you are on your journey right now, I want you to know that the struggle you’re facing today is preparing you for something you can’t yet see. The challenges are not “proof” that you’re failing. They’re evidence that you’re growing toward something that requires a stronger version of you! 🙂
Never give up on your dreams! Not because the path will be easy, because it won’t be. Not because everyone will support you, because they won’t. But because the dreams inside you deserve the chance to become real. And you deserve the fulfillment that comes from pursuing something that matters deeply to you.
The person you’ll become on the other side of these obstacles is someone you can’t fully imagine yet. But I promise you, from someone who has walked through fires and come out transformed: that person is worth every struggle, every tear, every moment of doubt.
Keep going. Rest when you need to. But never, ever give up. ❤️
