Handball Goalkeeper Performance Analysis
After a few months of quiet (but busy) work behind the scenes for the national team of Korea (while I was living in Canada), next week we will meet with our men’s senior national team in the National Training Center in South Korea and we will spend the whole month working together.
After having some time off after the World Championship in January, we will now finally start working on the next big steps for our national team!
We will start our preparation for the 19th Asian Games in China in September, and for the Olympic Games Qualifications in Qatar in October.
In the last few months I got to do a lot of work for our team by observing and analyzing (online and live) our national team players performance in their games of the Korean Handball League.
When analyzing the game performance of my goalkeepers, I take into account a lot of important data, which I use later for their performance evaluation, or for design of training topics and exercises ideas during our training sessions.
This is how one part of the statistical data that I like to collect looks like:
Besides that, I like to have a clear picture on what are the strongest and the weakness shooting positions for my goalkeepers, and also what are the best and the weakest goal zones for my goalkeepers.
Here is an example from one of my goalkeeper performance reports for how that looks like:
When it comes to performance and games analysis of handball goalkeepers (or players), there is always so much work that needs to be done and a lot of valuable and important data can be collected.
The collected data can be used for evaluation of the performance flow, and for planning practical and theoretical sessions in the off-season or in the competing part of the season.
I am looking forward to going back to South Korea and working with our national team in South Korea, Portugal, China, and Qatar during the next 5 months!
It’s always exciting to start working on new goals and to coach goalkeepers in person!
