Footwork and low save reaction
In this exercise goalkeeper is doing “front cross, back cross” movement until the audio stimuli, and then she is reacting on low shot, thus performing proper technique for the saves of low shots from 9m.
I don’t recommend this exercise with very young goalkeepers, because of the specific footwork drill where one foot is crossing the other. We don’t want to introduce that crossing legs movement before we make sure our goalkeeper understands proper movement, and intentional task in certain exercises.
From the other side, with more experienced goalkeepers this is just great exercise, since it’s “breaking” the habit and normal movement pattern, thus making it more challenging.
